MEET THE CRADLE, PINEHURST RESORT'S SHORT COURSE

Lie+Loft gives you a first look at the new nine-hole course, a place that proves that anyone can play golf.

Home is a feeling, and the feeling of home is evident in a big way at Pinehurst Resort.

At Lie + Loft, one of our missions is to support golf being more approachable + inclusive. A game where anyone can feel welcome and connected to a community.  A game that can encourage fun as much as competition, and not intimidate a beginner who’s never picked up a golf club before.  A game that can be enjoyed in minutes, and not necessarily need 4 hours to play.   A game that is shared, and not privately held based on income or background.  A game that feels like home to all wanting to explore it.

So, when we heard that the “Home of American Golf,” Pinehurst Resort, launched a new short course with progressive ideals in mind, we had to go experience it for ourselves.

Presenting, “The Cradle,” a dream of a track, featuring 9 holes designed by the visionary Gil Hanse.

We were fortunate to get out there on Opening Day.  Walking up to the starter shack, we kicked our shoes off, grabbed a few clubs, and teed it with some homies.  Here’s your Lie + Loft tour around the track (where we played 9 holes in 50 minutes… score).

From a playability perspective, The Cradle is a test for skilled and newbie golfers alike (the course record is currently 21, btw).  Gil and team mix obtainable distances with dynamic green complexes.  To make it even more appealing to beginning golfers and family camaraderie, golfers 17 and younger play for free with a paying adult.

On the social side, good vibes are encouraged and memories cultivated.  From the “Pinecone,” an accurately termed halfway house, to Adirondack chair spectator seating, The Cradle is a pin seeking party waiting to be had.

Well done, Pinehurst Resort.  You’ll be seeing us again soon (insert golf clap here).
