EXPLORING PORTLAND ON ITS SECOND SNOWIEST DAY IN HISTORY

After 11 inches of snow got dumped on Portland, we hit the city with golf clubs and camera in tow.

For the last 4-5 years in February, Portland has seen SOME sort of snow event. Whether it be a dusting or a foot of powder, the city has turned into a winter wonderland consistently during this time. Personally, I love snow. I’m a kid at heart and always will be. The anticipation and hype around the “will it snow?” question will never not get me excited and dreaming of my city’s potential transformation into a snowy playground.

Just a couple weeks ago in late February, Portland weather forecasters began to warn of a potential snow storm heading our way. So with a little prayer to the universe and some manifestation… Portland received a whopping 11″ over night. Depending on where you live, that may seem like a lot or a little amount. For us, it’s a lot! I woke up the next morning and immediately wanted to explore. So I layered up, grabbed my camera (and a few golf clubs), and headed out into the fray to see what sort of mischief I could get into. Below are some of the sights I stumbled upon that day.

First things first...
Coffee!
The city on pause.
An out of place Palmetto Tree.
One of my favorite buildings in NE Portland.
A good place to measure the snow fall.
Another favorite of mine. Can't beat the vintage lights.
Let's play some golf.
Nice read!
Golf is Home.

Almost always when it snows in Portland, it’s followed by a clearing of the clouds at night. The frigid air remains while the stars and sky become illuminated by the brightness of the white snow below. And if you’re lucky, Mr. Moon is out too. I’m not sure what it looks like in your neck of the woods this time of year, but I hope you enjoyed re-living my day in the snow in Portland.
