Urban golf allows players to think outside the confines of the traditional game. Portland is a great venue for it.

Depending on where you live, the architecture that encompasses the area, and the amount of empty space, urban golf is probably something very familiar to you, or, it’s a concept that you sometimes see when you’re consuming the L+L content spread. Portland makes for a great urban golf playground. From the Northwest Industrial district to Inner Southeast. Nooks and crannies await those bold enough to explore with their golf clubs in tow.
There are a few key necessities to a “good” urban golf area. Ideally, there aren’t many people around, you have a wide open space, and you have several corners to create holes. For this outing, I explored a new area, the Northeast Lloyd District; it did not disappoint.
Urban golf allows me to think beyond the borders of the traditional game played in a controlled grass environment. It pushes the boundaries of what it means to golf and how one can express themselves while doing it. I hope you’re able to find the time and space to explore this unique subsidiary of the game we all love. As always, if you find yourself in the Rose City, drop me a line, and I’ll show you one of my many local cement tracks.
